First report of Alternaria padwickii on rice seeds in Italy.

Abstract

In spring 1996, A. padwickii was detected on seeds taken from a sample of rice seeds produced in Italy in 1995. The species was identified by colony appearance and spore morphology. The pathogenicity of the fungus was confirmed. This is the first report of the pathogen on rice in Italy.
