New plant disease records in New Zealand: miscellaneous fungal pathogens III.

Abstract

Eleven fungi recorded for the first time in New Zealand are reported along with their hosts. These are Cercospora nasturtii on Rorippa nasturtium-aquaticum, Frommeella tormentillae on Potentilla anglicaĂ—P. nepalensis, Microsphaera sp. on Magnolia quinquepeta, Peronospora candida on Anagallis arvensis, P. digitalidis on Digitalis purpurea, P. mesembryanthemi on Dorotheanthus bellidiformis, Pseudocercospora nandinae on Nandina domestica, Puccinia conii on Conium maculatum, P. nakanishikii on Cymbopogon citratus, Ramularia ajugae on Ajuga reptans and Stagonospora atriplicis on Chenopodium album and C. murale. A total of 125 new host/pathogen records are given for 65 other species. These include 28 rusts, 12 downy mildews, 5 powdery mildews, 5 smuts, 5 white rusts, rots caused by Botrytis and Sclerotinia, and many leaf spots and blotches. The hosts include introduced weeds, cultivated crop and horticultural plants, and indigenous plants.
