Abstract

Control of groundnut blackhull and its causal fungus Chalara elegans with fungicides.

Abstract

Fungicides were tested for their activity against C. elegans (Thielaviopsis basicola), in culture, in artificially infested soil columns and in field experiments in South Africa. Propiconazole and etaconazole effectively controlled black hull of groundnuts in the field. The most effective treatments in the field were etaconazole foliar spray and propiconazole granular treatment applied over the plant row at planting which resulted in 64% and 46% disease reduction, respectively.
