Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Germination of sabiá (Mimosa caesalpiniaefolia Benth.) and algaroba (Prosopis juliflora (SW) DC) seeds.

Abstract

The effect of the temperature (20°C, 30°C or alternate temperatures of 20°C and 30°C) and substrate (towel paper, blotting paper or sand) on the germination of sabiá (Mimosa caesalpiniaefolia) and algaroba (Prosopis juliflora) was studied in laboratory conditions. Germination for both species was best when the temperature was alternated from 20°C to 30°C. Sabiá germination was best on blotting paper, and algaroba germination was best on sand.
