Atmospheric transport of mosquitoes in northeast India.

Abstract

A survey of flying mosquitoes was conducted during November 1992 and March and October 1994 in West Bengal, India, using a net attached to an aerodynamically-shaped balloon tethered 150 m above the ground. The species caught were: Anopheles vagus, A. hyrcanus, Culex fuscocephala, C. gelidus, C. quinquefasciatus, C. tritaeniorhynchus, C. vishnui, C. pseudovishnui, Mansonia annulifera and M. indiana.
