Another new tick record for the fauna of Portugal: Ixodes acuminatus Newman, 1901.

Abstract

Ixodes acuminatus was collected for the first time in Portugal in 1994, from Rattus norvegicus in Porto de Mós, Leiria district. The female is redescribed. Characters which distinguish this species from the similar I. redikorzevi are described. A table shows the recorded hosts and geographical distribution of I. acuminatus.
