Abstract

The phlebotomines of Lebanon I - results of preliminary collections.

Abstract

A total of 38 phlebotomines of 7 species was collected, of which 6 were new to Lebanon. These were: Phlebotomus papatasi, P. jacusieli, P. syriacus, (Paraphlebotomus) sp., Sergentomyia dentata and S. fallax. P. sergenti sergenti was not found, although it has previously been captured in Lebanon, but P. kandelakii was caught. It appeared to have characters intermediate between the 2 subspecies P. kandelakii kandelakii and P. k. burneyi. The authors prefer to give it the status of P. kandelakii s.l.
