Abstract

Natural infection of Amorphophallus konjac with dasheen mosaic virus in Brazil.

Abstract

Dasheen mosaic potyvirus (DsMV) was isolated from A. konjac [A. rivieri] plants showing leaf mosaic and malformation symptoms and small tubers in the region of São Paulo City, São Paulo, Brazil. The virus was identified on the basis of host range, morphological, cytopathological and serological characteristics. This is the first report of DsMV in A. rivieri in Brazil, where this edible aroid is cultivated by growers of Japanese origin.
