Abstract

Distribution and habitat preference in pastures of the clover leaf weevil in northern Kanto districts.

Abstract

A large population of larvae found hibernating in a pasture in Nishinasuno, Tochigi, Honshu, Japan, in April 1993 was reared to adulthood and then identified as the curculionid Hypera punctata. Field distribution surveys recorded this species in northern Kanto including the southern Tohoku district. Pastures with high densities of legumes were favoured by the larvae.
