Abstract

Biology of Cricula trifenestrata (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae), a leaf eating caterpillar of mango.

Abstract

The biology of Cricula trifenestrata was studied in 4 successive generations. The life cycle was completed in 61-125 days. The saturniid had 5 instars and passed through 4 generations in a year. The gregarious feeding by the 4th- and 5th-instar larvae can cause partial or complete defoliation of mango trees.
