Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Trematodes of birds from Lower Silesia. III. Urotocus rossitensis (Mühling, 1898) - a new record for Poland, parasitizing passeriform birds.

Abstract

Urotocus rossitensis is described and figured from the bursa Fabricii of Sylvia borin, Erithacus rubecula and Turdus philomelos, and from the cloaca of T. merula. These are all new hosts for U. rossitensis, which is recorded for the first time from Poland. The localization of this parasite in the cloaca is atypical. The suggestion that U. fusiformis and U. tholonetensis are synonyms of U. rossitensis is supported.
