Abstract

Meiosis and pollen development in exotic spruce.

Abstract

Details are given of the course of meiosis and pollen development in 1992 in two exotic species of spruce (Picea pungens and P. glauca) and the native spruce (predominantly P. abies) in Karelia. In the native spruce and P. glauca, pollination began when the sum of effective temperatures (>5°C) rose to 251, but in P. pungens not until 364 degree-hours.
