Ticks (Acarina, Fam. Argasidae & Ixodidae) of Oman.

Abstract

Records of the ticks and hosts found in Oman since 1982 and those obtained during the Wahiba Sands Project 1986, are listed. The tick species are: Ornithodoros (Alveonasus) foleyi, O. (Theriodoros) sonrai, Haemaphysalis (Rhipistoma) indica, Hyalomma (H.) anatolicum anatolicum, H. (H.) dromedarii, H. (H.) group dromedarii-impeltatum, H. (H.) impeltatum, H. (H.) marginatum marginatum, H. (H.) marginatum turanicum, H. (Hyalommina) arabica and Rhipicephalus sanguineus, as well as 1 Ornithodoros (Alveonasus) new species (not described here) and 1 unidentified Hyalomma sp. New tick-host relationships are described for man, horses, dromedaries, cattle, sheep, goats, dogs, Gerbillus cheesmani, Vulpes rueppelli sabaea, Ichneumia albicauda, Lepus capensis omanensis, Capra ibex nubiana, Oryx leucoryx, Gazella gazella and Malpolon moilensis.
