Abstract

The essential oil of C. sumatrensis, an endemic species of the Amazon forest, obtained by steam distillation of the leaves (collected from Brazil), was analysed by GC-MS, Kovats indices and 1H- and 13C-NMR spectroscopy. An acetylenic compound, lachnophyllum ester (43.7%), and limonene (22.9%), were the main components of the oil.
