Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Survival of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae on different weeds.

Abstract

None of the 7 weeds, namely Cyperus difformis, C. iria, C. rotundus, Digitaria ciliaris, Echinochloa crus-galli, Leptochloa panicea and Panicum colonum [E. colonum], commonly found in or around the infected rice fields of the Indian Punjab were found to be naturally infected with X. oryzae pv. oryzae. Pot and field trials with these weed species using artificial inoculation also failed to result in infection by the bacterium up to 20 d after treatment.
