First report of downy mildew on sunflowers caused by Plasmopara halstedii in Kansas.

Abstract

P. halstedii is reported for the first time (in 1992) in Kansas, USA, as the cause of downy mildew on sunflowers. Symptoms of the disease are described. Of 3 isolates obtained from infected plants, 2 were identified as race 4 and 1 as race 3.
