Studies on macrophytic weed infestation in certain ponds of central Gujarat.

A study was conducted of 3 village water bodies in central Gujarat during 1988-1989 to highlight the periodicity of infestations of macrophytic weeds (notably Ipomoea aquatica, Potamogeton pectinatus, Marsilea quadrifolia, Hydrilla verticillata, Vallisneria spiralis, Ceratophyllum demersum, Eichhornia crassipes, Azolla pinnata, Lemna gibba and Nymphaea stellata). It was concluded that the nutrient status of the water, physical conditions and fluctuations in water level influenced aquatic weed biology to a great extent.
