Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Revision of Chasmatopterus Latreille, 1825 (Coleoptera: Melolonthidae).

Abstract

The taxonomy of the 11 species of Chasmatopterus is revised and the distribution of each species in Spain, Portugal and Morocco is defined. Keys are given to the species and to the 6 subfamilies of the Palaearctic Scarabaeidae. The behaviour of the genus is briefly described. It is suggested that the larvae feed on roots. Adults frequent composites with yellow flowers, including Leontodon, Tanacetum, Bellis and Taraxacum officinale.
