Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Naturalized exotic tree species in Puerto Rico.

Abstract

Many exotic species have been imported into Puerto Rico for their wood, fruit and use as shade or ornamentals. Species that are abundant, widespread and competing in natural stands, as well as those likely to do so in future, are identified. Estimates are given of the general rate of spread, future abundance and environmental requirements of 118 naturalized species.
