Studies on the fancy veneer with artificial grain (1). The manufacturing of the fancy veneer with artificial grain.
Rotary cut veneer of low-grade hardwoods such as lauan (Shorea spp.) and jelutong (Dyera costulata), glued with synthetic resin and dyed, were laminated in a curved wooden mould to form a half-round 'log' by cold pressing. This was then cut with a bandsaw or sliced to make veneer with an attractive artificial grain effect.
