Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

New localities of Phlebotomus mariae Rioux, Croset, Léger & Bailly-Choumara, 1974, in Morocco.

Abstract

Phlebotomus mariae was first described from the South of Morocco in 1974. More specimens were found again recently (in late August 1989, again using sticky traps) in the High Atlas, showing that this species can be considered as a valid one, placed in the subgenus Larroussius. The female remains to be found. Of the 7 species of phlebotomines found in the more recent survey, P. sergenti and P. longicuspis were dominant.
