The alternate hosts of the potato tuber moth, Phthorimaea operculella, are reviewed from 1912 to 1991. The reported alternate hosts represent 60 plant species, both economic and wild. Most of the hosts belong to the Solanaceae, whereas the others belong to the Scrophulariaceae, Boraginaceae, Rosaceae, Typhaceae, Compositae, Amaranthaceae and Chenopodiaceae. The status and countries of reports of the alternate hosts are presented. Authors' summary.
