Abstract

Study on distribution of nematode virus vectors (Fam. Longidoridae) of raspberry crops in Bulgaria.

Abstract

Out of the 302 soil samples collected from 18 localities in the main raspberry growing regions of Bulgaria in 1986-87, 4 species of Xiphinema and 3 of Longidorus were found. These species were present in 12 of the localities sampled with X. diversicaudatum being the most widely distributed. All the species were new host records with L. macrosoma also being found for the first time in Bulgaria. L. elongatus is thought to play a significant role in transmission of raspberry ring spot nepovirus X. pachtaicum, L. euonymus, X. vuittenezi, and X. incertum were also found.
