DPX E9636, a new low rate sulfonylurea for post-emergence weed control in corn.
In 2 years' trials in Belgium, DPX E9636 (rimsulfuron) at 10 g/ha + surfactant 0.1% v/v post-em. gave excellent control of Elymus repens, Echinochloa crus-galli and Poa annua in maize. A second application of 7.5 g was required to control a late flush of E. crus-galli. Though a wide range of broadleaved weeds were also controlled by rimsulfuron, the addition of a compound with specific activity against less sensitive species would be required for their complete control.
