Abstract

Fungicidal control of damping-off in seedlings of Albizia lebbek, Dalbergia sissoo and Leucaena leucocephala caused by Fusarium spp.

Abstract

Damping off causes severe losses of Albizia lebbek [Albizia lebbeck], Dalbergia sissoo and Leucaena leucocephala in nurseries in Madhya Pradesh. Four fungicides, viz. Topsin-M (thiophanate methyl), Bavistin (carbendazim), Fytolan (copper oxychloride) and Slufex (sulfur), were applied to seeds of all 3 species as slurries at 0.02% a.i.; seeds were sown in sterilized nursery soil artificially inoculated with spore suspensions of Fusarium pallidoroseum (for A. lebbek and L. leucocephala) or F. oxysporum (for D. sissoo). Seedling growth was observed for 120 d. Both Topsin-M and Bavistin provided adequate control of damping off.
