Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Introduction of plants into the mediterranean-type climate of Chile.

Abstract

The introduced or naturalized herbaceous and woody plant species of the mediterranean climate zone of Chile are listed together with their life form and region of origin. Herbaceous taxa were more numerous, and the mattoral ecosystem was extensively invaded by introduced plants. Introduced woody species were mostly evergreen and used mainly as timber and fuel sources.
