First report of downy mildew of sunflower in Greece.
In Jun. 1991, >50% of sunflower plants in a 0.4-ha field in Rodopa Prefecture, Greece, of a local cultivar displayed symptoms typical of downy mildew. Disease symptoms and pathogen characteristics are described. The causal organism was identified as Plasmopara halstedii. This is the first report of this disease in Greece.
