Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Weeds of the Lesser Antilles.

Abstract

Following a brief introduction (comprising a discussion of what defines weeds, their deleterious impact, reasons for their success, their uses and their common/vernacular names), this book describes and illustrates with colour photographs the most important and commonly found weeds (broadleaved and sedges/grasses/ferns) of the Caribbean islands from Saint Thomas in the N. to Trinidad in the S. For each weed species, notes are provided on its nomenclature, distribution, biology, ecology and the crops with which it is associated. A key to species, a glossary and indexes of botanical and vernacular names are also included.
