Biological control of Acacia longifolia and related weed species (Fabaceae) in South Africa.
Possibilities for the biological control of Acacia spp. and Albizia lophantha in South Africa are described. The bud-galling wasp, Trichilogaster acaciaelongifoliae, has had a major impact on the reproduction of Acacia longifolia. The effect of the seed-feeding weevils, Melanterius spp., on Acacia longifolia, Acacia melanoxylon and Albizia lophantha has yet to be assessed.
