Abstract

Evaluation of permanent establishment of Leptomastix dactylopii How. against Planococcus citri (Risso) in Citrus orchards in India.

Abstract

The establishment of the encyrtid parasitoid Leptomastix dactylopii was studied in an orange orchard in Karnataka, India, during October 1985-December 1986, following its release for the control of Planococcus citri in 1984. An overall mean of 2.33 adult parasitoids/infested fruit was recovered, suggesting that the parasitoid was established. L. dactylopii was also shown to have migrated a distance of about 0.5 km to another orchard. Application of quinalphos, fenvalerate and monocrotophos resulted in reductions in the parasitoid population.
