Evaluation of flotation as a method for determining infestation of multiflora rose seeds by Megastigmus aculeatus var. nigroflavus (Hymenoptera: Torymidae).
Evaluation of flotation for determining infestation of seeds of Rosa multiflora by Megastigmus aculeatus var. nigroflavus showed that this method was inferior to radiography. However, the results of the flotation tests had implications for the dispersal of the pest, since most infested seeds float; there is a possibility of secondary dispersal of seeds if birds feed or roost near a water source.
