Abstract

Exposure of cowpeas to temperatures ≥57.3°C in an oven for 1 h killed all larvae and pupae of Callosobruchus maculatus within seeds and adults among seeds. Using the sun's rays and a simple heater constructed from cheap, widely available materials, the feasibility of using solar energy to eliminate C. maculatus from stores was demonstrated.
