Contribution to the knowledge of the fleas of Portugal.
Abstract
The fleas Typhloceras poppei (a single female was collected off a wood mouse, Apodemus sylvaticus, near Samarra in the Serra de Sintra mountains on 1 January 1986), T. favosus (a male and female were collected off a shrew, Crocidura sp., also near Samarra on 1 January 1986) and Paraceras melis melis (a single female was taken off a badger, Meles meles, near Infantado on 3 March 1985) are added to the Portuguese fauna. This is the first report of the genus Paraceras in Portugal, and the number of species/subspecies of fleas in Portugal is extended to 27.
