Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

The degree of infestation of the walnut tree and the pear tree by wood-destroying basidiomycetes and frost-plates on the walnut tree and on the pear tree in different areas of Moravia and Silesia.

Abstract

Details are given of the distribution of wood-destroying Basidiomycetes (mainly Polyporellus [Polyporus] squamosus and Inonotus hispidus) on walnut [Juglans regia] trees and to a lesser extent on pear trees. The degree of infestation was analysed according to ages of the trees, and of individual parts of the hosts. Special attention is paid to the role of frost damage in providing a point of entry for these fungi.
