Abstract

Solarization of agricultural materials for sanitation and control of plant pathogens.

Abstract

Tomato supports infested by Didymella lycopersici were placed on wet soil and covered with a white, transparent polyethylene sheet during Jun.-Aug. Max. temp. recorded was >50°C. Solarization of the stakes considerably decreased incidence of D. lycopersici and delayed disease occurrence. On a larger scale, supports may be stored in plastic houses during the summer. This paper was presented at the First International Conference on soil solarization held in Amman, Jordan, on 19-25 Feb. 1990.
