Abstract

Eclipta prostrata (L.) L. a weed of rice fields in the Camargue.

Abstract

Contaminated seed is thought to be responsible for the introduction of a number of exotic rice weeds into France. Among those which are proliferating are: Cyperus difformis, C. eragrostis, Lindernia dubia, Ammannia coccinea, Heteranthera limosa and H. reniformis. Echinochloa spp. and red rice are also causing problems. A description of E. prostrata is given, illustrated with line drawings. Its ecology, origin and distribution are also discussed.
