Abstract

Distribution of fire blight in Mexico and the identification of the bacteria on pear and Pyracantha.

Abstract

The disease appeared in Mexico in 1921 and is now distributed in practically all the pear and apple growing regions. Isolates of Erwinia amylovora from pear and Pyracantha had similar biochemical characteristics. This paper was presented at the Fifth International Workshop on Fireblight, held in Diepenbeek, Belgium on 19-22 Jun., 1989.
