Abstract

The rose seed chalcid Megastigmus aculeatus Swederus (Hymenoptera: Torymidae) on sweet brier, Rosa rubiginosa, in the South Island tussock country.

Abstract

Hips were collected from Rosa rubiginosa at 9 sites in Otago and Canterbury, New Zealand, during winter 1987. Following the emergence of adults of Megastigmus aculeatus in the laboratory, the hips and achenes were examined. Infestation of achenes ranged from 1.5 to 12.4%.
