Abstract

Spatial distribution of Megastigmus suspectus var. pinsapinis Hoff. (Hym. Torymidae), on Cedrus atlantica Manetti, in a stand in the south-east of France.

Abstract

The spatial distribution of Megastigmus suspectus pinsapinis on Cedrus atlantica is described from studies conducted in a stand in southeastern France. Eighty per cent of the cones were found between 3 and 8 m. M. s. pinsapinis parasitized a mean of 7 seeds/cone which was very low considering the number of seeds per cone. The average number of parasitized seeds per cone was higher above 7 m than between 0 and 6 m. The number of parasitized seeds per cone was higher on the north and west sides of the trees.
