Alternate plant hosts of rice leaffolder.
Surveys were carried out in rice-growing areas of Haryana, India, in September 1989 to determine alternative hosts of the pyralid rice pest Cnaphalocrocis medinalis. The pest was found on 9 plants of the family Gramineae, 6 of which had not previously been recorded as host plants of the pest. Agropyron repens [Elymus repens] was the most preferred of the alternative host plants (85% damaged leaves), followed by Echinochloa crus-galli, Sorghum halepense and E. colonum. Elymus repens and S. halepense were new host records.
