Abstract

Field trials for the control of chaff scale and Florida wax scale in citrus orchards with Tiger (pyriproxifen).

Abstract

Six field trials were conducted in citrus orchards in Israel in 1987-88 to determine the efficacy of spray applications of the insect growth regulator Tiger (pyriproxyfen), in comparison with summer oil and/or the organophosphorous insecticides Supracide (methidathion) or Folimat (omethoate) which were tank-mixed with Marshal (carbosulfan), against the diaspidid Parlatoria oleae and the margarodid Icerya purchasi. Concn of 0.05-0.1% pyriproxyfen were as effective at controlling both insect pests as the insecticide mixtures. Summer oil alone was the least effective treatment.
