A note on some Zimbabwean soil-vegetation relationships of important indicator value in soil survey.

Abstract

Some examples are described of woody indicator species representing broad soil-vegetation relationships in Zimbabwe. The examples chosen are all considered to have wide application in the country, and are not associated with specific or anomalous geopedological conditions. They are: Terminalia sericea; Colophospermum mopane; Brachystegia boehmii and Uapaca kirkiana; Diplorhynchus condylocarpon; Parinari curatellifolia; and Syzygium guineense and S. huilense.
