Abstract

Studies on mycoplasma pneumonia of cattle.

Abstract

Of 871 cattle examined after slaughter from three districts, 178 had pneumonic lesions. Culture of lung samples from 49 of these affected cattle and of nasal swabs from 34 cattle with respiratory, symptoms resulted in the isolation of 2 strains of Mycoplasma bovis, 17 of Mycoplasma bovirhinis and 5 of Mycoplasma dispar. All 17 M. bovirhinis strains were highly sensitive to tetracycline, furazolidone and tylosin.
