Quarantine procedure No. 26. Pseudomonas solanacearum. Inspection and test methods.
Immunofluorescence and pathogenicity tests are described for the detection of P. solanacearum in potato tubers. A scheme for screening potatoes is presented. Details of visual inspection, sampling and extraction of potato tubers, indirect immunofluorescence antibody stain (IFAS), pathogenicity test on tomato (in confirmation of a positive IFAS result), isolation from test plants, identification of pure culture and determination of biovar or race are given.
