Effect of extracts of Azolla pinnata on egg hatching of root knot nematodes Meloidogyne incognita and M. javanica.

The effect of extracts of fresh and dry A. pinnata on hatching of M. incognita and M. javanica egg masses was investigated in the laboratory. No hatching was observed in the extract of dry Azolla up to 336 h and even on transfer to water up to 264 h. Extracts of fresh Azolla showed a partial ovicidal action by reducing egg hatching compared to controls.
