Abstract
Interception of Fusarium nivale in exotic wheat (Triticum species) germplasm.
Abstract
In 1988 250 wheat seed samples were imported into India from the UK. Seeds were examined microscopically and incubation tests revealed the presence of F. nivale [Monographella nivalis] in all samples. Other pathogens detected were Botrytis cinerea in 9 samples, Drechslera sorokiniana [Cochliobolus sativus] in 1 sample, F. culmorum in 2 samples and F. poae in 2 samples. Characteristics of M. nivalis are described. M. nivalis has not yet been reported from India so strict quarantine controls are essential.
