Chemical control of blossom thrips in apple.
Six insecticides were tested against Taeniothrips sp., Thrips carthami and T. flavus on apple in Himachal Pradesh, India. Phosalone at 0.035% was the most effective compound, causing an 85% reduction in abundance. There was no significant difference between quinalphos, methyl-demeton [demeton-S-methyl] and fenitrothion, which were somewhat less effective than phosalone. Dimethoate and endosulfan were the least effective.
