Abstract

Examination of the gastro-intestinal tract of 45 A. albiventris caught in the Kainji Lake area, Nigeria, revealed 9 species of helminths: Ascarops dentata, A. strongylina, Gongylonema pulchrum, Macracanthorhynchus rhynchus hirudinaceus, Physocephalus sexalatus, Setaria sp, Mesocestoides sp. and Nochtia atelerixi which are said to be new records for Nigeria and P. dispar which has been found previously in a forest region of the country.
