Abstract

Hirsutella nodulosa fungus, a new pathogen for the coconut mite Eriophyes guerreronis.

Abstract

The entomogenous fungus Hirsutella nodulosa was found attacking a population of Eriophyes guerreronis [Aceria guerreronis] infesting coconuts in Cuba in 1984. The morphology of the fungus was studied using phase contrast microscopy and compared with that of H. thompsonii. H. nodulosa constitutes a new biological control agent for the eriophyid under natural conditions.
