Abstract
Studies on germination of Setaria glauca Beauv.
Abstract
Seeds of S. glauca [S. pumila] were collected in Sep. from various localities in Almora and germination tests were carried out in May in Petri dishes. Max. germination was obtained in 5 days when the seed coat was removed (71.5% germination) and in 6 days in the presence of the seed coat (61.45%). Aqueous extracts of the seed coat inhibited seed germination at high concn and stimulated germination at lower concn.
